Candles Inspired by
Coffee, Beer & Saturday Mornings
A CANDLE YOU CAN FEEL GOOD ABOUT
When I founded Dickens Candles I wanted to make a candle you can feel good about. A handmade candle with simple ingredients. I envisioned a candle that would accompany your first sip of hot coffee to start your day or a refreshing beer after a long day of work.
Inspired by my passions of coffee, beer and Saturday mornings I got busy candle making. Over 500 scents were sampled and a bottle cutting process honed. I tested and sourced the best American grown soy wax which is clean burning and 100% renewable.
My favorite time of the week is Saturday morning while relaxing with my wife and kids. Sipping on a cup of coffee, I make breakfast with a candle lit on the counter. That’s how I think of my candles, as a way to relax while you enjoy time with the ones you love.
Reusing beer bottles uses less resources than purchasing a new candle container would. All bottle necks (the part cut off during production) are recycled.
I reuse as much shipping material as possible (boxes, void fill, beer cases & six pack holders). So, my box might be a little "ugly" but it's helping reduce garbage in landfills.
Renewable Soy Wax
Soy Wax is 100% renewable, eco-friendly, sustainable & carbon neutral. The wax in your Dickens Candle was probably a soy bean less than a year ago. Unlike paraffin wax which is a petroleum product. Soy wax also burns 30-50% longer than paraffin.
Strong, but not overpowering scents
I believe in balanced candles. That means the scents and containers are a compliment to your home, not the main attraction.
Family & Relaxation
I started this company to provide balance for my family (see my story). I work hard when in the “candle factory” and focus on relaxing with my wife and kids when work is over. I also have the flexibility to deal with sick kids, coach baseball/softball and cook my family dinner (most) every night.
Be passionate and have fun! I believe my passion shows in each candle I pour making a difference in every living room they are burned in.
"Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm”

Handcrafted by a local maker. That means my candles have never seen the inside of a semi truck or container ship.
Bottles from local bars & restaurants (& my beer fridge). That means less shipping and less carbon used.
American Grown 100% Soy Wax. Yup, american farmers grow the soybeans (primarily in Illinois, Iowa, and Indiana) that are used to make candle wax.
